Instructions for Use
Input Voltage:
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 16V.
- Use appropriate input capacitors (e.g., 10μF ceramic) to stabilize the input.
Output Voltage:
- Set the output voltage using external resistors R1 and R2 according to the formula: [ V_ = V_ left(1 + fracright) ]
- The reference voltage ( V_ ) is typically 0.8V.
Output Capacitor:
- Use a low ESR ceramic capacitor (e.g., 10μF) on the output to ensure stability and reduce ripple.
Thermal Considerations:
- Place the device in a location with adequate airflow or use a heatsink if necessary, especially when operating at high output currents.
Shutdown Function:
- To shut down the device, pull the SHDN pin to ground. The shutdown current is typically 0.1μA.
- To enable the device, pull the SHDN pin to a voltage higher than 1.2V.
PCB Layout:
- Keep the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the device to minimize parasitic inductance.
- Use wide traces for power paths to reduce resistance and improve thermal performance.
Overcurrent Protection:
- The device has built-in overcurrent protection that limits the output current to approximately 3A.
- If the overcurrent condition persists, the device will automatically shut down to prevent damage.
Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection:
- Handle the device with care to avoid ESD damage.
- Use proper ESD protection equipment and follow recommended handling procedures.
Storage and Handling:
- Store the device in a dry, cool place.
- Follow the storage temperature range of -65°C to 150°C to ensure long-term reliability.
Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Verify the input and output voltages using a multimeter.
- Check for proper grounding and connections.
- If the device does not function correctly, check for short circuits, incorrect component values, or damaged components.
