Instructions for Use:
Supply Voltage (Vcc):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range of 4.75V to 5.25V to avoid damage to the device.
Output Voltage (Vo):
- The MC682L provides a regulated output voltage of 5V. No external components are required for this regulation.
Line Regulation:
- The line regulation is very low at 0.01% per volt, ensuring minimal changes in output voltage with variations in input voltage.
Load Regulation:
- The load regulation is also very low at 0.01% per milliamp, ensuring stable output voltage even under varying load conditions.
Output Current (Io):
- The maximum continuous output current is 100mA, with a peak capability of up to 150mA. Ensure the load does not exceed these limits to prevent overheating or damage.
Dropout Voltage (Vdo):
- The dropout voltage is typically 1.2V, meaning the input voltage must be at least 1.2V higher than the output voltage for proper regulation.
Quiescent Current (Iq):
- The quiescent current is 5mA, which is the current consumed by the regulator when no load is applied.
Ripple Rejection (RR):
- The ripple rejection is 70dB, which means the regulator can effectively filter out input voltage ripple, providing a clean output.
Operating Temperature (Ta):
- The operating temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C. Ensure the device operates within this range to maintain reliability.
Storage Temperature (Tstg):
- The storage temperature range is from -65°C to 150°C. Store the device in this range to avoid damage.
Additional Notes:
- Capacitors:
- While not strictly necessary, adding a 0.1μF ceramic capacitor between the input and ground and a 1μF electrolytic capacitor between the output and ground can improve stability and transient response.
- Heat Dissipation:
- If operating near the maximum output current, consider using a heatsink to dissipate heat and maintain the operating temperature within safe limits.
