Instructions for Use:
Power Supply:
- Connect the VCC pin to a stable 4.5V to 5.5V power supply.
- Connect the GND pin to the system ground.
Reference Voltage:
- The internal reference voltage is 2.048V. For higher accuracy, an external reference can be used by connecting it to the VREF pin.
Analog Input:
- Connect the analog input signal to the IN+ and IN- pins. Ensure the input voltage range is between 0V and VCC - 1.5V.
Output:
- The output is a digital signal representing the analog input. The output format is typically in a parallel or serial format depending on the configuration.
- For parallel output, connect the data lines (D0-D7) to the microcontroller or processor.
- For serial output, use the SCLK, SDATA, and CS pins for communication.
Conversion Control:
- Start a conversion by setting the CS pin low.
- The conversion time is approximately 10 μs for full-scale input.
- After the conversion is complete, read the output data from the data lines.
Shutdown Mode:
- To enter shutdown mode, set the SHDN pin high. This reduces power consumption to 0.1 μA.
- To resume operation, set the SHDN pin low.
Temperature Considerations:
- The operating temperature range is -40°C to 85°C. Ensure the device is used within this range to maintain performance and reliability.
Package Handling:
- The LTC1298CS8 is supplied in an 8-pin SOIC package. Handle with care to avoid damage to the pins and the chip.
Decoupling Capacitors:
- Place a 0.1 μF ceramic capacitor close to the VCC and GND pins to filter out noise and ensure stable operation.
Layout Considerations:
- Keep the analog input traces short and away from noisy digital signals to minimize interference.
- Use a ground plane to reduce noise and improve signal integrity.
