Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Voltage (VIN):

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 20V.
    • The regulator will not function properly outside this range.
  2. Output Voltage (VOUT):

    • The output voltage is fixed at 3.3V. No external resistors are required for voltage setting.
  3. Output Current (IOUT):

    • The device can provide up to 1.5A of continuous current, with a typical output current of 1A.
    • For higher currents, ensure adequate heat dissipation.
  4. Dropout Voltage (VD):

    • The dropout voltage is typically 1.2V at 1A output current. This means the input voltage must be at least 4.5V (3.3V + 1.2V) to maintain regulation.
  5. Quiescent Current (IQ):

    • The quiescent current is 60μA under normal operating conditions. This is the current consumed by the regulator itself.
  6. Shutdown Current (ISD):

    • When the shutdown pin (SHDN) is pulled low (0V), the shutdown current is reduced to 1μA.
  7. Transient Response:

    • The output voltage deviation during a load step from 0A to 1A is typically 50mV. This ensures stable operation during dynamic load changes.
  8. Power Dissipation (PD):

    • The maximum power dissipation at 25°C ambient temperature is 3.7W. Ensure proper heat sinking if operating near this limit.
  9. Operating Temperature (TOPR):

    • The operating temperature range for the junction is -40°C to 125°C. Ensure the device does not exceed these limits to avoid damage.
  10. Storage Temperature (TSTG):

    • The storage temperature range is -40°C to 150°C. Store the device in a dry, cool place to prevent degradation.

Additional Notes:

  • Heat Sinking: For high current applications, consider using a heat sink to manage power dissipation and maintain thermal stability.
  • Capacitors: Use appropriate input and output capacitors to ensure stability and reduce ripple. Refer to the datasheet for recommended values.
  • PCB Layout: Follow good PCB layout practices to minimize noise and improve performance. Keep traces short and wide, and use ground planes where possible.
