Instructions for Using STBV32

  1. Input Voltage:

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range of 2.7V to 5.5V.
    • Use a suitable decoupling capacitor (typically 1μF to 10μF) between the input and ground to filter out noise.
  2. Output Voltage:

    • The output voltage is fixed at 3.3V. No external components are required to set this voltage.
  3. Output Current:

    • The device can provide up to 300mA of continuous output current. For higher currents, consider using a heatsink or a more powerful regulator.
  4. Quiescent Current:

    • The quiescent current is typically 10μA, which is very low, making the device suitable for battery-powered applications.
  5. Dropout Voltage:

    • The dropout voltage is approximately 300mV at full load (300mA). This means the input voltage should be at least 3.6V to maintain the 3.3V output.
  6. Load Regulation:

    • The change in output voltage due to load variations is typically 10mV. This ensures stable output even under varying load conditions.
  7. Line Regulation:

    • The change in output voltage due to input voltage variations is also typically 10mV, ensuring stable output over the input voltage range.
  8. Ripple Rejection:

    • The power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) is 60dB, effectively filtering out input ripple and noise.
  9. Operating Temperature:

    • The device operates reliably from -40°C to 85°C. Ensure proper thermal management if operating near the upper limit.
  10. Storage Temperature:

    • Store the device in a temperature range of -55°C to 150°C to avoid damage.
  11. PCB Layout:

    • Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the regulator to minimize trace inductance and improve performance.
    • Use wide traces for the input and output connections to reduce resistance and voltage drop.
  12. Heatsinking:

    • For high current applications, consider adding a heatsink to the regulator to dissipate heat and prevent overheating.
  13. Protection:

    • The device includes internal short-circuit and thermal shutdown protection to prevent damage under fault conditions.

By following these guidelines, you can ensure optimal performance and reliability of the STBV32 voltage regulator in your application.
