The MIC29150/29300/29500/29750 are high-current, high-accuracy, low-dropout voltage regulators. Using proprietary Super βeta PNP? process with a PNP pass element, these regulators feature 350mV to 425mV (full load) typical dropout voltages and very low ground current. Designed for high-current loads, these devices also find applications in lower current, extremely low dropout-critical systems, where their tiny dropout voltage and ground current values are important attributes.

Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Voltage (VIN):

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 2.95V to 16V.
    • Do not exceed the maximum input voltage to avoid damaging the device.
  2. Output Voltage (VOUT):

    • The output voltage can be set from 1.24V to 15V using an external resistor divider.
    • Use the formula ( V_ = 1.24 left(1 + fracright) ) to calculate the resistor values.
  3. Output Current (IOUT):

    • The device can provide up to 2.0A of continuous current.
    • Ensure the load does not exceed this limit to prevent overheating or damage.
  4. Quiescent Current (IQ):

    • The quiescent current is typically 3.5μA, with a minimum of 2.5μA and a maximum of 5μA.
    • This is the current consumed by the regulator when no load is present.
  5. Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):

    • The dropout voltage is typically 270mV at an output voltage of 1.24V and an output current of 500mA.
    • Ensure the input voltage is at least 270mV higher than the output voltage to maintain regulation.
  6. Thermal Shutdown (TSD):

    • The device will shut down if the junction temperature reaches 160°C.
    • Ensure proper heat dissipation to prevent thermal shutdown.
  7. Operating Junction Temperature (TJ):

    • The operating junction temperature range is from -40°C to 125°C.
    • Ensure the device operates within this temperature range to avoid malfunction.
  8. Storage Temperature (TSTG):

    • The storage temperature range is from -65°C to 150°C.
    • Store the device in a suitable environment to prevent damage.

Additional Notes:

  • Always use appropriate bypass capacitors on both the input and output to ensure stable operation.
  • Refer to the datasheet for detailed information on PCB layout recommendations and other specific requirements.
