Instructions for Use:
Power Supply:
- Connect Vcc (Pin 16) to the positive supply voltage (4.5V to 9V).
- Connect GND (Pin 8) to the ground.
Input Signal:
- Connect the input signal to Pin 1.
- Ensure the input impedance is at least 47kΩ to avoid loading the signal source.
Output Signal:
- The output is active low. Connect the load or next stage to Pin 15.
- The output can drive up to 10mA.
Tone Frequency Selection:
- Set the desired tone frequency by connecting the appropriate external resistors and capacitors to Pins 2, 3, 4, and 5.
- Refer to the datasheet for specific resistor and capacitor values for different frequencies.
Threshold Adjustment:
- Adjust the threshold level using an external resistor connected to Pin 6.
- This helps in setting the sensitivity of the tone detection.
Reset Function:
- Use Pin 7 for resetting the device. Apply a low signal to reset the decoder.
- If not used, connect Pin 7 to Vcc.
Output Enable:
- Enable the output by pulling Pin 14 low.
- If not used, connect Pin 14 to GND.
Test Mode:
- For testing purposes, apply a high signal to Pin 13 to enter test mode.
- In test mode, the device outputs a continuous tone.
Decoding Status:
- Monitor the status of the decoding process through Pin 12.
- A low signal on Pin 12 indicates that the correct tone has been detected.
Decoding Time:
- The time required to decode a tone depends on the input signal strength and the threshold settings.
- Typically, the decoding time is a few milliseconds.
Handling Precautions:
- Handle the IC with care to avoid static damage.
- Ensure all connections are secure and free from short circuits.
Storage:
- Store the IC in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
