TA8429H Instructions

1. Pin Configuration

  • 1 (IN1): Input for Channel 1
  • 2 (IN2): Input for Channel 2
  • 3 (GND): Ground
  • 4 (VCC): Power Supply
  • 5 (OUT1): Output for Channel 1
  • 6 (OUT2): Output for Channel 2
  • 7 (SHDN): Shutdown Pin (High = Active, Low = Shutdown)
  • 8 (NC): No Connect

2. Basic Operation

  • Power Supply: Connect the VCC pin to a 4.5V to 5.5V power supply.
  • Ground: Connect the GND pin to the ground.
  • Inputs: Apply logic signals to IN1 and IN2 to control the outputs.
  • Outputs: OUT1 and OUT2 will follow the logic state of IN1 and IN2, respectively.
  • Shutdown: Set SHDN to a high level (≥1.2V) to enable the device, or low (≤0.8V) to put it into shutdown mode.

3. Protection Features

  • Short-Circuit Protection: The device has built-in short-circuit protection that automatically recovers when the fault condition is removed.
  • Over-Temperature Protection: If the junction temperature exceeds the safe operating range, the device will shut down until the temperature returns to normal.

4. Typical Applications

  • Motor Control: Driving small DC motors or stepper motors.
  • LED Driving: Controlling high-brightness LEDs.
  • Relay Driving: Activating relays with low current requirements.

5. Layout Considerations

  • Heat Dissipation: Ensure adequate heat dissipation if the device is operating at high currents. Use a heatsink if necessary.
  • Decoupling Capacitors: Place a 100nF ceramic capacitor and a 10μF electrolytic capacitor close to the VCC and GND pins to filter out noise and stabilize the power supply.

6. Safety Precautions

  • ESD Protection: Handle the device with proper ESD precautions to avoid damage.
  • Reverse Polarity: Do not apply reverse polarity to the VCC and GND pins.
  • Overvoltage: Ensure the input voltage does not exceed the maximum rating to prevent damage.

This information should help you effectively use the TA8429H in your applications.
