Instructions for Use

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to Pin 1.
    • Connect the ground (GND) to Pin 8.
  2. Output Configuration:

    • Connect the output capacitor (COUT) between Pin 5 (VOUT) and Pin 8 (GND).
    • The output voltage will be the inverted value of the input voltage.
  3. Input Capacitor:

    • Place an input capacitor (CIN) between Pin 1 (VIN) and Pin 8 (GND) to stabilize the input voltage.
  4. Oscillator Components:

    • Connect an external resistor (R) between Pin 6 (OSC) and Pin 8 (GND) to set the operating frequency.
    • Connect an external capacitor (C) between Pin 7 (OSC) and Pin 8 (GND) to set the operating frequency.
  5. Shutdown Mode:

    • To enable shutdown mode, connect Pin 4 (SHDN) to GND (Pin 8). This will reduce the current consumption to less than 1μA.
    • To resume operation, disconnect Pin 4 (SHDN) from GND or apply a high logic level to this pin.
  6. Layout Considerations:

    • Keep the layout compact to minimize parasitic inductance and capacitance.
    • Use short, wide traces for power and ground connections to reduce resistance and inductance.
  7. Component Selection:

    • Choose capacitors with low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) for better performance.
    • Ensure the inductor and capacitors are rated for the maximum expected current and voltage.
  8. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation if operating at high currents or in high ambient temperatures.
    • Consider using a heatsink or thermal pad if necessary.
  9. Testing:

    • Measure the input and output voltages to ensure correct operation.
    • Check the quiescent current and efficiency under different load conditions.
  10. Safety Precautions:

    • Ensure all components are rated for the expected voltages and currents.
    • Follow standard safety guidelines when handling and testing electrical circuits.
