Instructions for Using the FAN6862TY
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 28V.
- Use appropriate filtering capacitors to stabilize the input voltage.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- Set the output voltage using external resistors according to the formula: [ V_ = 0.8 left(1 + fracright) ]
- Choose R1 and R2 to achieve the desired output voltage.
Output Current (IOUT):
- The maximum output current is 2.5A. Ensure the load does not exceed this limit to avoid damage.
- Use an appropriate inductor and output capacitor to maintain stability under varying loads.
Switching Frequency:
- The switching frequency can be set by an external resistor connected to the RT/CLK pin.
- Use the following formula to calculate the resistor value: [ f_ = frac{1.1}{R_ times 10^{-6}} ]
Duty Cycle:
- The duty cycle should be between 0.3 and 0.9 to ensure proper operation.
- Adjust the feedback network to maintain the desired duty cycle.
Quiescent Current:
- The quiescent current is typically 3.5mA but can go up to 10mA.
- This current is drawn from the input supply and should be considered in power budget calculations.
Dropout Voltage:
- The dropout voltage is typically 1.2V. Ensure the input voltage is at least 1.2V higher than the output voltage to maintain regulation.
Operating Temperature:
- The device operates reliably between -20°C and 85°C.
- Avoid operating the device outside this range to prevent thermal stress and potential failure.
Storage Temperature:
- Store the device between -65°C and 150°C to ensure long-term reliability.
Package:
- The FAN6862TY is available in an SO-8 package.
- Follow standard PCB layout guidelines for thermal management and signal integrity.
Additional Notes:
- Always refer to the datasheet for detailed information and specific application notes.
- Use appropriate decoupling capacitors near the power pins to reduce noise and improve stability.
- Ensure proper heat dissipation if operating at high output currents or in high ambient temperatures.
