Instructions for Using the ISL6524CBZ:
Power Supply Connection:
- Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the appropriate pin, ensuring it is within the specified range (4.5V to 14V).
- Connect the ground (GND) to the common ground.
Output Configuration:
- Set the desired output voltage (VOUT) using external resistors connected to the feedback (FB) pin. The formula for calculating the resistors is: [ V_ = V_ left(1 + fracright) ] where ( V_ ) is typically 0.6V.
Switching Frequency:
- The switching frequency is fixed at 300kHz. No external components are required to set this.
Current Limiting:
- The peak current limit is set internally to 12A. No external components are required for current limiting.
Thermal Management:
- Ensure proper heat dissipation by providing adequate PCB copper area or a heatsink if necessary. Monitor the device temperature to avoid exceeding the thermal shutdown temperature (160°C).
Shutdown Function:
- To shut down the device, apply a voltage less than 1.1V to the shutdown (SHDN) pin. To activate the device, apply a voltage greater than 1.1V to the SHDN pin.
Operating and Storage Temperatures:
- Ensure the ambient temperature remains within the operating range (-40°C to 125°C) and the storage temperature within the specified range (-65°C to 150°C).
PCB Layout:
- Follow recommended PCB layout guidelines to minimize noise and ensure stable operation. Keep high-frequency paths short and use decoupling capacitors close to the power pins.
Capacitor Selection:
- Use low ESR capacitors for input and output filtering. Recommended values are typically in the range of 10μF to 100μF for input and 10μF to 47μF for output.
Inductor Selection:
- Choose an inductor with a saturation current higher than the peak current limit (12A) and a suitable inductance value for the desired output ripple. Typical values range from 1μH to 4.7μH.
