Instructions for Use:
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range of 4.5V to 28V.
- Avoid exceeding the maximum input voltage to prevent damage to the device.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- The output voltage can be adjusted between 0.8V and 20V. Use the external resistor network to set the desired output voltage.
- Refer to the datasheet for the specific resistor values required for different output voltages.
Output Current (IOUT):
- The device can provide a continuous output current up to 3A. For optimal performance, keep the load current within the typical range of 1.5A.
- Ensure adequate heat dissipation if operating at higher currents.
Quiescent Current (IQ):
- The quiescent current is typically 70μA at 12V input. This value helps in determining the efficiency of the regulator in low-load conditions.
Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):
- The dropout voltage is the minimum difference between the input and output voltages required to maintain regulation. It is typically 0.5V at 3A output current and 5V input.
Regulation:
- Load regulation and line regulation are both specified as 0.1% to 0.5%. These parameters indicate the stability of the output voltage under varying load and input conditions.
Ripple Rejection:
- The device provides ripple rejection of 60dB to 80dB at 120Hz, which helps in filtering out noise from the input supply.
Temperature Considerations:
- The operating temperature range is -40°C to 125°C. Ensure the device is used within this range to avoid thermal stress.
- The storage temperature range is -65°C to 150°C, which is useful for handling and storage before installation.
PCB Layout:
- Place the input and output capacitors close to the device to minimize parasitic inductance and improve transient response.
- Use a ground plane to help with heat dissipation and reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI).
Safety:
- Always follow proper handling and safety guidelines when working with electronic components.
- Ensure that the input power supply is properly rated and protected with appropriate fuses or circuit breakers.
