Instructions for Use:
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 20V.
- Avoid exceeding the maximum input voltage to prevent damage to the device.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- The output voltage can be adjusted between 1.8V and 5.5V.
- Use the external resistor network to set the desired output voltage according to the datasheet formula.
Output Current (IOUT):
- The device can provide up to 6A of output current.
- Ensure that the load does not exceed this limit to avoid overheating or damage.
Quiescent Current (IQ):
- The quiescent current is typically 2.5mA but can go up to 4mA.
- This current is drawn even when there is no load on the output.
Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):
- The dropout voltage is the difference between the input and output voltages at which the regulator can no longer maintain regulation.
- At 6A, the dropout voltage is typically 1.2V and can go up to 1.8V.
Load Regulation:
- The load regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in load current.
- It is typically 0.2% and can go up to 0.5%.
Line Regulation:
- The line regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in input voltage.
- It is typically 0.1% per volt and can go up to 0.3%.
PSRR (Power Supply Rejection Ratio):
- The PSRR indicates how well the regulator rejects ripple and noise from the input supply.
- At 1kHz, it is typically 70dB and can go up to 80dB.
Operating Temperature (TOPR):
- The device is designed to operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 125°C.
- Ensure adequate cooling if operating near the upper limit.
Storage Temperature (TSTG):
- The device can be stored in temperatures ranging from -65°C to 150°C.
- Avoid exposing the device to extreme temperatures for extended periods.
Mounting and Layout:
- Use a good thermal design to ensure efficient heat dissipation.
- Place the device close to the load to minimize trace resistance and inductance.
- Use appropriate decoupling capacitors on both the input and output sides to improve stability and reduce noise.
Safety Considerations:
- Always follow proper handling and soldering procedures to avoid damage to the device.
- Ensure that all connections are secure and free from shorts or open circuits.
