The MCP23S08-E/SS is an 8-bit I/O expander with SPI interface from Microchip. It provides general purpose remote I/O expansion for most microcontroller families via the SPI interface. The device features an 8-bit quasi-bidirectional I/O port (GP0-GP7), each of which can be individually configured as an input or output.
