Instructions for Using L9904TR

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the positive terminal of the power supply to the VDD pin.
    • Connect the ground (GND) to the GND pin.
  2. Output Configuration:

    • The output voltage is typically set to 5V. If a different output voltage is required, use an external resistor network to adjust the feedback pin (FB).
  3. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation by mounting the L9904TR on a heatsink if the output current exceeds 500mA.
    • Monitor the operating temperature to ensure it stays within the specified range (-40°C to 150°C).
  4. Input Capacitor:

    • Place a 10μF electrolytic capacitor between VDD and GND as close to the device as possible to stabilize the input voltage.
  5. Output Capacitor:

    • Use a 10μF electrolytic capacitor between VOUT and GND to filter the output and reduce ripple.
  6. Protection Circuits:

    • The L9904TR includes built-in overcurrent and thermal protection. However, it is recommended to add a fuse in series with the input to protect against short circuits.
  7. PCB Layout:

    • Keep the traces from the input and output capacitors to the L9904TR as short as possible to minimize parasitic inductance.
    • Use wide traces for the power paths to reduce resistance and heat generation.
  8. Storage:

    • Store the L9904TR in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage. Follow the storage temperature guidelines (-65°C to 150°C).
  9. Handling:

    • Handle the L9904TR with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the device. Use anti-static wrist straps and mats when handling the component.
  10. Testing:

    • Before final assembly, test the L9904TR in a controlled environment to ensure it meets the required specifications.
