Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Voltage (VIN):

    • Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 28V.
    • Do not exceed the maximum input voltage to avoid damaging the device.
  2. Output Voltage (VOUT):

    • The output voltage can be adjusted between 0.8V and 18V using external resistors.
    • Use the formula ( V_ = V_ left(1 + fracright) ) where ( V_ = 0.8V ).
  3. Output Current (IOUT):

    • The device can provide up to 6A of continuous output current.
    • For optimal performance, keep the load within the typical range of 3A.
  4. Efficiency:

    • The typical efficiency at 5V input and 3.3V output is 93%.
    • Efficiency can vary based on input and output conditions.
  5. Switching Frequency (fSW):

    • The switching frequency is fixed at 700kHz.
    • This helps in minimizing the size of external components.
  6. Quiescent Current (IQ):

    • The quiescent current is typically 30μA with no load.
    • This low quiescent current helps in reducing power consumption in standby mode.
  7. Shutdown Current (ISD):

    • When the enable pin (VEN) is set to 0V, the shutdown current is typically 1μA.
    • Use this feature to save power when the device is not in use.
  8. Soft-Start Time (tSS):

    • The typical soft-start time is 2.5ms.
    • This helps in preventing inrush currents during startup.
  9. Thermal Shutdown Temperature (TSD):

    • The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C.
    • Ensure proper heat dissipation to prevent thermal shutdown.
  10. Operating Junction Temperature (TJ):

    • The operating junction temperature range is from -20°C to 125°C.
    • Ensure the device operates within this temperature range to avoid damage.

Layout Considerations:

  • Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the IC to minimize noise and improve stability.
  • Use wide traces for power paths to reduce resistance and inductance.
  • Ensure adequate PCB copper area for heat dissipation.

Storage and Handling:

  • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
  • Handle with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the device.
