Instructions for Using BQ25890HRTWR
Power Supply Connection:
- Connect the input power source to the VIN pin.
- Ensure the input voltage is within the operating range of 3.0V to 6.0V.
Battery Connection:
- Connect the battery to the BAT pin.
- Verify that the battery type is supported (Li-Ion or Li-Polymer).
Output Configuration:
- Set the desired output voltage (VOUT) using the external resistors connected to the FB pin.
- The output voltage can be adjusted between 3.0V and 5.5V.
Charging Configuration:
- Program the charging current (ICHG) using the external resistor connected to the ISET pin.
- The charging current can be set between 0.1A and 3.0A.
System Current Configuration:
- Set the maximum system current (ISYS) using the external resistor connected to the ISYS pin.
- The system current can be set between 0.1A and 3.0A.
Communication Interface:
- Use the I2C or SMBus interface to monitor and control the device.
- Connect the SDA and SCL pins to the appropriate lines on your microcontroller or system.
Protection Settings:
- The device includes built-in overvoltage, overcurrent, short-circuit, and thermal protection.
- No additional configuration is required for these features.
Thermal Management:
- Monitor the temperature of the device to ensure it does not exceed 140°C.
- If the device reaches the thermal shutdown threshold, it will automatically shut down to prevent damage.
Quiescent and Shutdown Modes:
- The device operates with a low quiescent current of 10μA.
- To enter shutdown mode, pull the EN pin low. The shutdown current is 0.1μA.
Testing and Validation:
- After setup, test the device under various conditions to ensure it meets the required specifications.
- Validate the output voltage, charging current, and system current to confirm proper operation.
