Instructions:

  1. Power Supply:

    • Connect the supply voltage (4.5V to 24V) to the VCC pin.
    • Connect the ground (GND) to the common ground.
  2. Signal Connections:

    • Connect the A, B, and Z (index) signals to your controller or microprocessor.
    • Ensure that pull-up resistors are used for the open collector outputs (typically 1kΩ to 10kΩ).
  3. Installation:

    • Insert the encoder into the mounting hole on your PCB.
    • Secure the encoder using the provided screws or clips.
  4. Operation:

    • Rotate the shaft to generate quadrature signals (A and B) and an index pulse (Z) once per revolution.
    • Use the A and B signals to determine the direction of rotation.
    • Use the Z signal to identify the start of a new revolution.
  5. Maintenance:

    • Avoid exposing the encoder to extreme temperatures, moisture, or physical shock.
    • Regularly inspect the connections and mounting for any signs of wear or damage.
  6. Troubleshooting:

    • If the encoder is not generating signals, check the power supply and connections.
    • If the signals are erratic, ensure that the pull-up resistors are correctly installed and functioning.
