Instructions:

  1. Supply Voltage (VCC): Ensure the supply voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 5.5V. Exceeding this range can damage the device.
  2. Output Configuration: The HAL505S has an open-collector output. Connect a pull-up resistor between the output and the supply voltage to ensure proper operation.
  3. Magnetic Sensitivity (HYS): The device switches states based on the magnetic field strength. The typical sensitivity is 20 mT, but it can vary between 10 mT and 30 mT.
  4. Operating Temperature (Toper): The device is designed to operate within a temperature range of -40°C to 85°C. Avoid exposing the device to temperatures outside this range to prevent malfunction or damage.
  5. Storage Temperature (Tstg): When storing the device, ensure the temperature does not exceed -40°C to 125°C.
  6. Response Time (τ): The typical response time is 10 μs, but it can be as high as 20 μs. This is the time it takes for the device to switch states when the magnetic field changes.
  7. Load Current (IOL): The maximum load current that the device can sink is 30 mA. Ensure the load current does not exceed this limit to avoid overheating or damage.

Application Notes:

  • Pull-Up Resistor Selection: Choose a pull-up resistor value that ensures the output voltage is within the desired range when the output is low. A common value is 1 kΩ.
  • Decoupling Capacitor: Place a 0.1 μF decoupling capacitor close to the VCC and GND pins to filter out noise and stabilize the supply voltage.
  • Mounting Orientation: Ensure the sensor is mounted with the correct orientation relative to the magnetic field to achieve the desired sensitivity and response.
