Instructions for TPS2044B

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the power supply within the range of 3.0V to 5.5V.
    • Ensure the output voltage (VOUT) is connected to the load.
  2. Current Limiting:

    • The device supports a continuous current of up to 2.5A and peak currents of up to 3.0A for 100 μs pulses.
    • Avoid exceeding these limits to prevent damage to the device.
  3. Thermal Management:

    • The thermal shutdown temperature is set at 160°C to protect the device from overheating.
    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation by using a heatsink or placing the device on a PCB with good thermal conductivity.
  4. Operating Temperature:

    • The operating temperature range is from -40°C to 85°C.
    • Store the device in an environment between -65°C and 150°C.
  5. Turn-On and Turn-Off Times:

    • The turn-on time is approximately 1.0 μs when the input voltage transitions from 0V to 90% of VIN.
    • The turn-off time is also approximately 1.0 μs when the output voltage transitions from VIN to 10% of VIN.
  6. Quiescent Current:

    • The quiescent current is typically 60 μA when the input voltage is 5V and the output voltage is 0V.
  7. Protection Features:

    • The TPS2044B includes overcurrent protection, short-circuit protection, and thermal shutdown to ensure reliable operation under various conditions.
  8. Layout Considerations:

    • Use short and wide traces for power and ground connections to minimize inductance and resistance.
    • Place bypass capacitors close to the input and output pins to filter noise and provide stable operation.
  9. Application Notes:

    • Refer to the datasheet for detailed application notes and circuit diagrams to ensure proper integration into your design.
