Instructions for Using the LM2591HVT-ADJ
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 60V.
- Use appropriate input capacitors (typically 10μF to 100μF) to stabilize the input voltage.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- The output voltage can be adjusted using external resistors R1 and R2.
- The formula to calculate the output voltage is: ( V_ = 1.23 left(1 + fracright) ).
- Choose R1 and R2 values to achieve the desired output voltage.
Output Capacitor (COUT):
- Use a low ESR (Equivalent Series Resistance) capacitor for COUT, typically 10μF to 100μF.
- This helps to filter out any ripple and noise from the output.
Inductor Selection:
- Select an inductor with a value between 10μH and 100μH.
- The inductor should have a saturation current rating higher than the maximum output current.
Feedback Resistor Network:
- Connect R1 between the ADJ pin and GND.
- Connect R2 between the ADJ pin and the output (VOUT).
Shutdown Pin (SHDN):
- To enable the regulator, connect the SHDN pin to VIN or leave it floating.
- To disable the regulator, connect the SHDN pin to GND.
Thermal Considerations:
- Ensure proper heat dissipation by mounting the device on a heatsink if operating at high currents or in high ambient temperatures.
- Monitor the temperature to avoid exceeding the thermal shutdown temperature of 160°C.
Layout Guidelines:
- Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC to minimize parasitic inductance.
- Use wide traces for power paths to reduce resistance and heating.
- Place the inductor and feedback resistors close to the IC for optimal performance.
Storage and Handling:
- Store the device in a dry, cool environment within the temperature range of -65°C to 150°C.
- Handle the device with care to avoid damage from electrostatic discharge (ESD).
