Instructions for Using FAN6300ANY
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 26V.
- Use appropriate filtering capacitors to stabilize the input voltage.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- Set the output voltage using the feedback resistor network. The formula for calculating the output voltage is: [ V_ = 0.8 left(1 + fracright) ]
- Where ( R_1 ) and ( R_2 ) are the feedback resistors.
Switching Frequency (fSW):
- The switching frequency can be adjusted by changing the value of the external frequency-setting resistor ( R_f ). The formula for calculating the switching frequency is: [ f_ = frac{1.44 times 10^6} ]
- Where ( R_f ) is in ohms.
Quiescent Current (IQ):
- The quiescent current is the current drawn by the IC when no load is applied. It is typically around 1.2mA at 5V output.
Load Regulation:
- The load regulation is the change in output voltage with respect to the change in load current. It should be less than 0.5% for a 5V output and a load current range of 0 to 1A.
Line Regulation:
- The line regulation is the change in output voltage with respect to the change in input voltage. It should be less than 0.2% for an input voltage range of 4.5V to 26V and a load current of 1A.
Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):
- The dropout voltage is the minimum difference between the input and output voltages required to maintain regulation. It should be between 0.4V and 1.0V at 1A load current.
Enable Input (VEN):
- The enable input controls the operation of the IC. The IC will start operating when the enable input voltage is above 1.23V and will shut down when it drops below 1.0V.
Soft-Start Time (tSS):
- The soft-start time is the duration over which the output voltage ramps up to its final value. It is typically between 4.8ms and 6.0ms.
Short-Circuit Protection (SCP):
- The IC provides short-circuit protection. If a short circuit occurs, the IC will limit the output current and attempt to recover after a period of 300μs to 500μs.
Thermal Shutdown (TSD):
- The IC will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 150°C to prevent damage. It will restart once the temperature drops below 160°C.
Layout Considerations
- Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the IC to minimize noise and improve stability.
- Use wide traces for power and ground connections to reduce resistance and inductance.
- Ensure proper heat dissipation by providing adequate copper area or a heatsink if necessary.
Additional Notes
- Always refer to the datasheet for the most accurate and detailed information.
- Test the circuit under various conditions to ensure reliable operation.
