Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Capacitor (CIN):

    • Place a 1 μF ceramic capacitor close to the input pin to ensure stability.
    • For better transient response, a larger value (e.g., 10 μF) can be used.
  2. Output Capacitor (COUT):

    • A 10 μF tantalum or ceramic capacitor is recommended for the output to maintain stability.
    • For improved load transient response, a higher value (e.g., 22 μF) can be used.
  3. Adjustable Output Voltage:

    • The output voltage can be adjusted using two external resistors (R1 and R2).
    • The formula to calculate the output voltage is: [ V_ = 1.24 left(1 + fracright) ]
    • Choose R1 and R2 such that the desired output voltage is achieved.
  4. Thermal Considerations:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation if the device is operating at high current levels.
    • Use a heatsink if necessary to keep the junction temperature within the specified range.
  5. Layout Considerations:

    • Keep the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the respective pins to minimize parasitic inductance.
    • Use wide traces for power paths to reduce resistance and improve thermal performance.
  6. Shutdown Function:

    • If the shutdown function is required, connect the SHDN pin to ground to turn off the regulator.
    • To enable the regulator, leave the SHDN pin open or connect it to the input voltage.
  7. Storage and Handling:

    • Store the device in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
    • Handle with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the device.
