Instructions for Use:
Input Voltage (VI):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 6.5V to 40V.
- The minimum input voltage should be at least 1.3V higher than the output voltage to maintain regulation.
Output Voltage (VO):
- The output voltage is fixed at 5.0V with a tolerance of ±2% (4.8V to 5.2V).
Output Current (IO):
- The device can provide up to 1.0A of continuous output current.
Line Regulation:
- The output voltage changes by 0.004% per volt change in input voltage.
Load Regulation:
- The output voltage changes by 0.01% per milliamp change in load current.
Dropout Voltage (VD):
- The dropout voltage is typically 1.3V at an output current of 1A and an input voltage of 5.5V.
Quiescent Current (IQ):
- The quiescent current is typically 6.5mA.
Thermal Management:
- The thermal resistance (θJA) is 50°C/W. Ensure proper heat sinking if operating at high temperatures or currents to prevent overheating.
Operating Temperature (Toper):
- The device is rated to operate from -40°C to 125°C.
Storage Temperature (Tstg):
- Store the device between -65°C and 150°C.
Mounting:
- Mount the device on a PCB with adequate copper area for heat dissipation.
- Ensure the mounting surface is clean and free of contaminants.
Capacitors:
- Use appropriate input and output capacitors to stabilize the regulator and filter out noise.
- Typical values are 10μF for input and 10μF for output.
PCB Layout:
- Keep the input and output capacitors close to the regulator to minimize parasitic inductance.
- Use wide traces for power and ground connections to reduce resistance and inductance.
Testing:
- Test the regulator under various load conditions to ensure it meets the required specifications.
- Monitor the temperature of the device during testing to ensure it does not exceed the maximum operating temperature.
