Instructions for Use:
Supply Voltage (Vcc):
- Ensure the supply voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 5.5V to avoid damage to the device.
Operating Temperature (Ta):
- The device can operate in temperatures ranging from -40°C to 85°C. Ensure proper heat dissipation if operating near the upper limit.
Output Current (Iout):
- The maximum output current is 3.0A. Ensure the load does not exceed this limit to prevent overheating and potential damage.
Dropout Voltage (Vdo):
- The dropout voltage is the minimum difference between the input and output voltages required to maintain regulation. It ranges from 1.0V to 1.5V at full load.
Line Regulation:
- The line regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in input voltage. It should be less than 0.01% over the specified input voltage range.
Load Regulation:
- The load regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in load current. It should be less than 0.1% over the specified load current range.
Quiescent Current (Iq):
- The quiescent current is the current drawn by the device when no load is connected. It is typically 5mA.
Ground Pin Current (Ignd):
- The ground pin current is the current flowing through the ground pin under load conditions. It is typically 50mA at full load.
Thermal Shutdown Temperature (TSD):
- The device will shut down if the temperature exceeds 140°C to 160°C to prevent thermal damage.
Short-Circuit Protection (ISCP):
- The device has built-in short-circuit protection that limits the output current to approximately 4.0A to prevent damage during a short circuit.
Additional Notes:
- Always use appropriate heatsinking to manage thermal conditions, especially at high output currents.
- Ensure the input capacitor is placed close to the device to minimize noise and improve stability.
- For optimal performance, follow the recommended PCB layout guidelines provided in the datasheet.
