Instructions for TPS63031DSKR:

  1. Power Supply Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the input pin.
    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (2.5V to 5.5V).
    • Connect the ground (GND) to the common ground.
  2. Output Configuration:

    • Set the desired output voltage using external resistors connected to the FB (feedback) pin.
    • Use the formula ( V_ = 1.23 times left(1 + fracright) ) to calculate the resistor values, where ( R_1 ) is connected between VOUT and FB, and ( R_2 ) is connected between FB and GND.
  3. Capacitor Selection:

    • Use a low ESR ceramic capacitor (typically 10μF) for the input capacitor (CIN) to ensure stable operation.
    • Use a low ESR ceramic capacitor (typically 10μF) for the output capacitor (COUT) to maintain output stability.
  4. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation by providing a thermal pad or heatsink if the device is expected to operate at high currents or in high ambient temperatures.
  5. Shutdown Function:

    • To enable the shutdown function, connect the EN (enable) pin to GND. To activate the device, connect EN to VIN or a logic high signal.
  6. PCB Layout:

    • Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the respective pins to minimize parasitic inductance.
    • Use wide traces for power connections to reduce resistance and improve thermal performance.
  7. Protection Features:

    • The TPS63031DSKR includes overcurrent protection, thermal shutdown, and undervoltage lockout to protect against fault conditions.
  8. Testing:

    • After assembly, test the device under various load conditions to ensure it meets the required specifications.
    • Verify the output voltage and current using a multimeter and load tester.
