Instructions for Use:

  1. Mounting:

    • Ensure the device is securely mounted on a heatsink to maintain optimal thermal performance.
    • Use a suitable thermal compound between the device and the heatsink to enhance heat dissipation.
  2. Gate Triggering:

    • Apply a gate trigger current (IGT) within the specified range to turn the device on.
    • For reliable operation, ensure the gate trigger current is at least the minimum value (30 mA).
  3. Current Handling:

    • Do not exceed the maximum peak on-state current (ITSM) of 60 A to avoid damage.
    • The device is rated for a continuous RMS on-state current (IT(RMS)) of 12 A at a case temperature of 40°C.
  4. Voltage Ratings:

    • The device can withstand a maximum repetitive peak off-state voltage (VDRM) and on-state voltage (VRRM) of 600 V.
    • Ensure the supply voltage does not exceed these ratings to prevent breakdown.
  5. Thermal Management:

    • Monitor the junction temperature (Tj) to ensure it remains within the operating range (-40°C to 125°C).
    • Use the thermal resistance (Rth(j-c)) to calculate the required heatsink size for your application.
  6. Storage and Handling:

    • Store the device in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture damage.
    • Handle with care to avoid mechanical stress or damage to the leads.
  7. Testing:

    • Before installing the device in a circuit, perform a simple test to verify its functionality.
    • Check the gate-to-cathode resistance and the on-state voltage drop to ensure the device is within specifications.
