Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the input pin of the KA7805ERTM.
    • Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 7.2V to 40V.
  2. Output Connection:

    • Connect the output pin to the load or circuit requiring a regulated 5V supply.
    • The maximum continuous output current is 1.5A, but it is typically designed for 1.0A.
  3. Ground Connection:

    • Connect the ground (GND) pin to the common ground of your system.
  4. Capacitors:

    • Place a 0.33μF ceramic capacitor close to the input pin to filter out high-frequency noise.
    • Place a 100μF electrolytic capacitor close to the output pin to stabilize the output voltage.
  5. Heat Dissipation:

    • If the regulator is expected to dissipate significant power (e.g., when the input voltage is much higher than 5V), ensure adequate heat sinking.
    • Calculate the power dissipation using the formula: ( P = (VIN - VOUT) times IOUT ).
  6. Operating Temperature:

    • Ensure the operating temperature is within the range of -40°C to 125°C.
    • Avoid exposing the device to temperatures outside this range to prevent damage.
  7. Storage Temperature:

    • Store the device in an environment with a temperature range of -65°C to 150°C.
  8. Ripple Rejection:

    • The regulator has a ripple rejection of 60dB, which helps in filtering out input voltage fluctuations.
  9. Line and Load Regulation:

    • The line regulation and load regulation are both very low at 0.01%, ensuring a stable output voltage under varying input conditions and load currents.
  10. Quiescent Current:

    • The quiescent current is typically 5mA, which is relatively low and suitable for most applications.

By following these instructions, you can ensure reliable operation of the KA7805ERTM voltage regulator in your circuits.
