Instructions for Use:

  1. Forward Voltage (VF):

    • Ensure that the forward voltage across the diode does not exceed 1.6V when the forward current is 20 mA to avoid damage.
  2. Reverse Breakdown Voltage (VBR):

    • The reverse breakdown voltage should be kept between 5V and 7V to prevent reverse breakdown. Do not exceed 7V under any circumstances.
  3. Forward Current (IF):

    • The continuous forward current should not exceed 20 mA. For pulse applications, the peak pulse forward current can go up to 50 mA with a pulse width of 10 μs.
  4. Peak Pulse Forward Current (IF(s)):

    • For short pulses, the peak pulse forward current can be as high as 150 mA, but the pulse width must be limited to 10 μs and the duty cycle should not exceed 10%.
  5. Reverse Current (IR):

    • The reverse current should be kept below 500 nA at a reverse voltage of 5V to ensure reliable operation.
  6. Rise and Fall Time (tr, tf):

    • The rise and fall times are typically 8 to 12 nanoseconds when the forward current is 20 mA and the load resistance is 50 Ω.
  7. Storage and Operating Temperature:

    • Store the device in an environment where the temperature ranges from -40°C to 100°C. The operating temperature range is also from -40°C to 100°C.
  8. Handling and Storage:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid mechanical stress. Store in a dry, cool place to prevent moisture damage.
  9. Mounting:

    • Ensure proper mounting to avoid thermal issues. Use appropriate heat sinks if necessary to dissipate heat effectively.
  10. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection:

    • Handle the device with ESD protection measures to prevent damage from static electricity. Use grounded wrist straps and ESD-safe workstations.

By following these parameters and instructions, you can ensure the reliable and efficient operation of the MOCD217M photodiode.
