Instructions for Using SN65HVD485EDR

  1. Power Supply:

    • Ensure the supply voltage (VCC) is within the range of 4.75V to 5.25V.
    • Connect the ground (GND) pin to the system ground.
  2. Signal Lines:

    • Connect the A and B pins to the differential signal lines of the RS-485 network.
    • The DE (Driver Enable) and RE (Receiver Enable) pins control the direction of data flow:
      • Set DE high and RE low to enable the driver.
      • Set DE low and RE high to enable the receiver.
      • Set both DE and RE low to place the device in high-impedance mode (tristate).
  3. Data Transmission:

    • For transmitting data, connect the data input (DI) pin to your microcontroller or other data source.
    • For receiving data, connect the data output (RO) pin to your microcontroller or other data sink.
  4. Termination Resistors:

    • Use 120Ω termination resistors at the ends of the RS-485 bus to prevent signal reflections and ensure proper operation.
  5. Operating Conditions:

    • Ensure the operating temperature is within the range of -40°C to 85°C.
    • Store the device in a temperature range of -65°C to 150°C.
  6. Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) Protection:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid ESD damage. Use proper ESD protection measures during handling and installation.
  7. Signal Integrity:

    • Keep signal traces as short as possible to minimize noise and interference.
    • Use shielded cables for long-distance communication to reduce electromagnetic interference (EMI).
  8. Data Rate:

    • The maximum data rate supported by the SN65HVD485EDR is 10 Mbps. Ensure that the baud rate of your communication protocol does not exceed this limit.

By following these instructions, you can ensure reliable and efficient operation of the SN65HVD485EDR in your RS-485 communication system.
