Instructions for Use
Circuit Configuration:
- Connect the input voltage to the "IN" pin.
- Connect the output load to the "OUT" pin.
- Ground the "GND" pin.
Input Voltage:
- Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (7V to 25V) to avoid damage to the regulator.
Output Capacitor:
- It is recommended to place a 10μF electrolytic capacitor between the output and ground to stabilize the output voltage and reduce ripple.
Heat Dissipation:
- The KA7812 and KA7812ETU have a thermal resistance of 65°C/W. For high current applications, consider using a heatsink to improve heat dissipation.
Thermal Protection:
- The devices include thermal shutdown protection to prevent damage from excessive temperature. If the junction temperature exceeds the safe operating limit, the device will automatically shut down.
Short-Circuit Protection:
- Both devices feature short-circuit protection. In the event of a short circuit, the output current will be limited to prevent damage to the regulator or the load.
Mounting:
- Mount the device on a PCB with sufficient clearance to allow for proper heat dissipation. Ensure that the leads are securely soldered and free from mechanical stress.
Storage:
- Store the devices in a dry environment within the specified storage temperature range (-65°C to 150°C).
Handling:
- Handle the devices with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage the internal components. Use appropriate ESD protection measures.
Testing:
- Before connecting the device to the final application, test it with a known load to ensure proper operation and output voltage stability.
