Instructions for Use:
Input Connection:
- Connect the input voltage to the "Input" pin (Pin 1). Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (14.5V to 35V).
Output Connection:
- Connect the load to the "Output" pin (Pin 2). The output voltage will be regulated to 12V.
Ground Connection:
- Connect the ground to the "Common" pin (Pin 3).
Capacitors:
- For stable operation, it is recommended to place a 0.33μF capacitor between the input pin and ground, and a 0.1μF capacitor between the output pin and ground.
Thermal Considerations:
- The L7812 has thermal shutdown protection, but it is advisable to use a heatsink if the device is expected to dissipate significant power (e.g., when the input voltage is high or the output current is close to the maximum).
Short-Circuit Protection:
- The L7812 includes internal short-circuit protection, which will limit the output current to prevent damage in case of a short circuit.
Mounting:
- Ensure proper mounting to a PCB or heatsink to maintain good thermal performance.
Storage:
- Store the L7812 in a dry, cool place to avoid damage from moisture or extreme temperatures.
