Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Capacitor (CIN):

    • Use a ceramic capacitor with X7R or better dielectric.
    • Place as close to the input pins as possible.
    • Recommended value: 10 μF.
  2. Output Capacitor (COUT):

    • Use a low ESR ceramic capacitor.
    • Place as close to the output pins as possible.
    • Recommended value: 10 μF.
  3. Inductor (L):

    • Choose an inductor with a saturation current rating higher than the maximum output current.
    • Recommended value: 4.7 μH.
  4. Feedback Resistor (RFB):

    • Set the output voltage using the feedback resistor network.
    • For 5V output, use a standard resistor value pair.
  5. Bootstrap Capacitor (CB):

    • Connect between the BST and SW pins.
    • Recommended value: 0.1 μF ceramic.
  6. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation, especially at high output currents.
    • Use a heatsink if necessary.
  7. Layout Considerations:

    • Keep high-current paths short and wide.
    • Use ground planes to reduce noise and improve thermal performance.
  8. Start-Up Time:

    • The device will start up when the input voltage exceeds the UVLO threshold.
    • Typical start-up time is less than 1 ms.
  9. Short-Circuit Protection:

    • The device has built-in short-circuit protection that limits the output current and cycles the switch off until the fault condition is removed.
  10. Thermal Shutdown:

    • The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C.
    • It will automatically restart once the temperature drops below the hysteresis point.
