Instructions for Use
Handling Precautions:
- Handle the SK86 with care to avoid damage to the leads and package.
- Use proper ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) protection when handling to prevent damage to the gate oxide.
Mounting:
- Ensure the mounting surface is flat and clean.
- Apply a thin layer of thermal compound between the heatsink and the SK86 to improve thermal conductivity.
- Tighten the mounting screws to the recommended torque value to ensure good thermal contact without over-stressing the component.
Soldering:
- Preheat the PCB to 70°C to 100°C before soldering.
- Use a soldering iron with a temperature setting of 300°C to 350°C.
- Solder each lead for no more than 3 seconds to avoid overheating the component.
- Allow the component to cool naturally after soldering.
Operation:
- Ensure the gate-to-source voltage (VGS) does not exceed the maximum rating of ±20V.
- Keep the junction temperature (TJ) within the specified range of -55°C to 150°C.
- Monitor the power dissipation and ensure it does not exceed the total power dissipation rating of 150W at ambient temperature (TA=25°C).
Storage:
- Store the SK86 in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight.
- Keep the component in its original packaging until ready for use to protect against static discharge and physical damage.
Testing:
- Before installing the SK86 in a circuit, test it using a multimeter or a dedicated MOSFET tester to ensure it is functioning correctly.
- Check for continuity between the drain and source with the gate grounded. The resistance should be low when the gate is biased positively and high when the gate is grounded.
Troubleshooting:
- If the SK86 fails, check for overvoltage, overcurrent, or excessive temperature conditions that may have caused the failure.
- Replace the component if it shows signs of physical damage or if it fails to meet the specified electrical parameters.
