Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Capacitor Selection:

    • Use a ceramic capacitor with low ESR and X7R dielectric.
    • Recommended value: 10μF to 100μF.
  2. Output Capacitor Selection:

    • Use a ceramic capacitor with low ESR and X7R or X5R dielectric.
    • Recommended value: 10μF to 22μF for stable operation.
  3. Inductor Selection:

    • Choose an inductor with a saturation current greater than the maximum output current.
    • Recommended inductance: 1.5μH to 4.7μH.
  4. Feedback Resistor Network:

    • Set the output voltage using the feedback resistor network.
    • Use the formula: ( V_ = 0.985 times left(1 + fracright) ).
  5. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure proper heat dissipation by mounting the device on a PCB with a large copper area.
    • Use the exposed pad for thermal grounding.
  6. Layout Considerations:

    • Keep the input and output capacitors close to the IC.
    • Minimize loop area for high-frequency currents to reduce EMI.
  7. Enable Pin:

    • The enable pin can be used to control the on/off state of the regulator.
    • Apply a logic high (VIN) to turn on the regulator and a logic low (GND) to turn it off.
  8. Soft-Start:

    • The soft-start feature reduces inrush current during startup.
    • The typical soft-start time is 1ms.
  9. Overcurrent Protection:

    • The device has built-in overcurrent protection that limits the output current to prevent damage.
    • The protection threshold is typically set to 4.2A.
  10. Thermal Shutdown:

    • The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C.
    • It will restart once the temperature drops below 145°C due to the hysteresis.
  11. Storage and Handling:

    • Store the device in a dry, cool environment.
    • Follow standard ESD handling procedures to avoid damage.
