Instructions for LP2951ACN DIP-8
Pin Configuration:
- 1 (IN): Input Voltage
- 2 (GND): Ground
- 3 (OUT): Output Voltage
- 4 (SHDN): Shutdown (Active Low)
- 5 (ADJ): Adjust
- 6 (NC): No Connect
- 7 (NC): No Connect
- 8 (NC): No Connect
Basic Operation:
- Connect the input voltage (VIN) to pin 1.
- Connect the ground (GND) to pin 2.
- Connect the output load to pin 3 (OUT).
- To enable the regulator, connect pin 4 (SHDN) to GND. To disable, connect it to VIN or leave it floating.
- For adjustable output voltage, use a resistor divider between OUT and ADJ (pin 5).
Adjustable Output Voltage:
- The output voltage can be adjusted using the formula: [ V_ = 1.25 left(1 + fracright) ]
- Where ( R_1 ) is the resistor connected between OUT and ADJ, and ( R_2 ) is the resistor connected between ADJ and GND.
Capacitors:
- A 1μF ceramic capacitor is recommended at the input (between IN and GND) for stability.
- A 1μF ceramic capacitor is also recommended at the output (between OUT and GND) for stability.
Thermal Considerations:
- Ensure adequate heat dissipation if operating at high current levels or in high ambient temperatures.
- The maximum power dissipation (Pd) can be calculated as: [ P_d = (V_ - V_) times I_ ]
Short-Circuit Protection:
- The LP2951ACN has built-in short-circuit protection. It will limit the output current to prevent damage.
Storage and Handling:
- Store in a dry environment to prevent moisture damage.
- Handle with care to avoid static discharge which can damage the device.
Mounting:
- Solder the device to the PCB following standard soldering practices.
- Ensure all connections are secure and free from shorts.
By following these instructions, you can ensure reliable operation of the LP2951ACN DIP-8 low-dropout linear regulator.
