Instructions for Use:

  1. Mounting and Handling:

    • Handle the TLP187 with care to avoid mechanical damage.
    • Ensure that the device is mounted on a suitable PCB with proper soldering techniques to ensure good electrical connections and thermal dissipation.
  2. Electrical Connections:

    • Connect the anode (A) and cathode (K) to the input side of the circuit.
    • Connect the collector (C) and emitter (E) to the output side of the circuit.
    • Ensure that the polarity is correct to avoid damage to the device.
  3. Forward Current (IF):

    • Do not exceed the maximum continuous forward current (IF) of 20 mA.
    • For peak forward current (IFP), do not exceed 100 mA for more than 1 ms.
  4. Reverse Voltage (VR):

    • The device can withstand a reverse voltage (VR) up to 5 V. Exceeding this value may cause damage.
  5. Isolation Voltage (VIORM):

    • The isolation voltage between the input and output sides is 3.75 kV. Ensure that this voltage is not exceeded to prevent breakdown.
  6. Output Collector-Emitter Voltage (VCEO):

    • The maximum collector-emitter voltage (VCEO) is 30 V. Ensure that the output circuit does not exceed this voltage to avoid damage.
  7. Output Collector Current (IC):

    • The maximum collector current (IC) is 50 mA. Ensure that the load current does not exceed this value.
  8. Turn-On and Turn-Off Times:

    • The typical turn-on time (ton) is 1 μs and the typical turn-off time (toff) is 1 μs. These times can vary between 1 μs and 3 μs depending on the conditions.
  9. Temperature Ranges:

    • Store the device within the storage temperature range (-40°C to 110°C).
    • Operate the device within the operating temperature range (-40°C to 100°C).
  10. Thermal Management:

    • Ensure adequate heat dissipation if the device is operated at high currents or temperatures to prevent overheating and potential failure.
  11. Testing and Troubleshooting:

    • Before integrating the TLP187 into a circuit, test it in a controlled environment to ensure it meets the specified parameters.
    • If the device fails to operate correctly, check the connections, power supply, and load conditions.
