Instructions for Use:

  1. Circuit Design:

    • Input Capacitor (CIN): A 1μF ceramic capacitor is recommended between the input pin (IN) and ground (GND) to stabilize the input voltage.
    • Output Capacitor (COUT): A 10μF tantalum or ceramic capacitor is recommended between the output pin (OUT) and ground (GND) to ensure stability and reduce ripple.
  2. Thermal Considerations:

    • The AU7860E has a low thermal resistance, but it is important to ensure adequate heat dissipation, especially when operating at high output currents. Consider using a heatsink if the ambient temperature is high or if the regulator is expected to dissipate significant power.
  3. PCB Layout:

    • Place the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the respective pins to minimize parasitic inductance and improve transient response.
    • Ensure that the ground connections are short and wide to reduce ground impedance.
  4. Power-On Sequence:

    • Ensure that the input voltage is applied before any load is connected to the output. This helps prevent inrush current issues and ensures stable operation.
  5. Protection:

    • The AU7860E includes internal overcurrent and thermal shutdown protection. However, it is recommended to include external protection circuits such as fuses or polymeric positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) devices to protect against short circuits and other fault conditions.
  6. Adjustment:

    • The output voltage is fixed at 5V and does not require adjustment. If a different output voltage is needed, consider using a different regulator or an adjustable version of this regulator.
  7. Storage:
