Instructions for Use
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 36V.
- Connect the input voltage to the VIN pin.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- The output voltage is fixed at 5.0V.
- Connect the output load to the VOUT pin.
Output Current (IOUT):
- The maximum continuous output current is 1.5A, with a typical value of 1.0A.
- Ensure the load does not exceed the maximum output current to avoid damage.
Quiescent Current (IQ):
- The quiescent current is typically 80μA when the device is active.
- This current is drawn from the input supply.
Shutdown Current (ISD):
- When the device is in shutdown mode, the current draw is typically 1μA.
- Use the SHDN pin to control the shutdown mode.
Dropout Voltage (VDROPOUT):
- The dropout voltage is typically 1.0V at a 1.0A output current.
- Ensure the input voltage is at least 1.0V higher than the output voltage to maintain regulation.
Switching Frequency (fSW):
- The switching frequency is typically 1.5MHz.
- This frequency can be adjusted using external components if needed.
Efficiency (η):
- The efficiency is typically 85% at 12V input, 5V output, and 1A output current.
- Optimize the design for maximum efficiency by minimizing losses in external components.
Thermal Shutdown (TSD):
- The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C.
- Ensure proper heat dissipation to prevent thermal shutdown.
Operating Junction Temperature (TJ):
- The operating junction temperature range is -40°C to 125°C.
- Ensure the device operates within this temperature range to avoid damage.
Storage Temperature Range (TSTG):
- The storage temperature range is -65°C to 150°C.
- Store the device in a controlled environment to prevent damage during storage.
Additional Notes:
- Always refer to the datasheet for detailed information and specific application notes.
- Use appropriate decoupling capacitors on both the input and output to ensure stable operation.
- Ensure all connections are secure and free from shorts or open circuits.
