Instructions for Use:
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 8V to 30V.
- The higher the input voltage, the more power dissipation will occur, which may require additional heat sinking.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- The output voltage is fixed at 12V. No external components are required to set this voltage.
Output Current (IOUT):
- The device can provide up to 1.5A of output current, with a typical value of 1A.
- For continuous operation at higher currents, ensure proper heat dissipation.
Quiescent Current (IQ):
- The quiescent current is typically 5mA and can go up to 10mA.
- This is the current consumed by the regulator when no load is applied.
Dropout Voltage (VDROP):
- The dropout voltage is the minimum difference between the input and output voltages required for the regulator to maintain regulation.
- It is typically 1.3V and can go up to 1.7V.
Line Regulation:
- The line regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in input voltage.
- It is typically 0.01% and can go up to 0.05%.
Load Regulation:
- The load regulation is the change in output voltage due to changes in load current.
- It is typically 0.01% and can go up to 0.05%.
Thermal Shutdown (TSD):
- The device will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C to prevent damage.
- Ensure adequate cooling to avoid thermal shutdown.
Operating Junction Temperature (TJ):
- The operating junction temperature range is from -40°C to 125°C.
- Ensure that the device operates within this range to avoid performance degradation or failure.
Storage Temperature (TSTORAGE):
- The storage temperature range is from -65°C to 150°C.
- Store the device in a dry environment within this temperature range to maintain reliability.
Additional Notes:
- Heat Sinking:
- For high current applications, consider using a heat sink to improve thermal performance.
- Capacitors:
- Use input and output capacitors as recommended in the datasheet to stabilize the regulator and filter noise.
- PCB Layout:
- Follow good PCB layout practices to minimize noise and ensure stable operation.
