Instructions for Use:
Supply Voltage (Vcc):
- Ensure the supply voltage is within the range of 4.5V to 5.5V for optimal performance.
Input Voltage (Vin):
- The input voltage should be between 7.5V and 40V to ensure proper operation and avoid damage to the device.
Output Current (Iout):
- The device can provide up to 100mA of continuous output current. Ensure that the load does not exceed this limit to prevent overheating or damage.
Dropout Voltage (Vdo):
- The dropout voltage is typically 1.8V at an output current of 100mA. Ensure that the input voltage is at least 1.8V higher than the desired output voltage.
Line and Load Regulation:
- The line and load regulation are both very low (0.01% per V and 0.01% per mA, respectively), ensuring stable output under varying conditions.
Ripple Rejection:
- The device provides 70dB ripple rejection at 1kHz, which helps in maintaining a clean output voltage even with noisy input sources.
Thermal Shutdown:
- The device has built-in thermal protection and will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C. Allow the device to cool before resuming operation.
Short-Circuit Protection:
- The device is protected against short circuits and will limit the output current to approximately 350mA to prevent damage.
Operating Temperature:
- The device can operate over a temperature range from -40°C to 85°C. Ensure adequate cooling if operating in high-temperature environments.
Mounting and Layout:
- Proper heat sinking is recommended for high-current applications to maintain the device within its operating temperature range.
- Keep the input and output capacitors close to the device to minimize noise and improve stability.
Capacitors:
- Use appropriate input and output capacitors as specified in the datasheet to ensure stability and reduce ripple. Typically, a 10μF electrolytic capacitor on the input and a 10μF electrolytic capacitor on the output are recommended.
Storage and Handling:
- Store the device in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and corrosive materials.
- Handle the device with care to avoid static discharge, which can damage sensitive components.
