Instructions for Use:
Input Voltage (VIN):
- Ensure the input voltage is within the range of 7.0 V to 12.0 V to avoid damage to the regulator.
Output Voltage (VOUT):
- The output voltage is regulated to 5.0 V ± 0.2 V. Ensure the load current is within the specified range to maintain this regulation.
Output Current (IOUT):
- The maximum continuous output current is 100 mA. Exceeding this may cause the regulator to overheat or shut down.
Line Regulation:
- The line regulation is 0.01% over the input voltage range, ensuring stable output voltage even with input variations.
Load Regulation:
- The load regulation is 1.0% over the load current range, maintaining output stability under varying load conditions.
Dropout Voltage:
- The dropout voltage is 1.5 V at full load. Ensure the input voltage is at least 1.5 V higher than the output voltage to maintain regulation.
Quiescent Current:
- The quiescent current is 5 mA at no load, which is important for low-power applications.
Thermal Shutdown:
- The regulator will shut down if the junction temperature exceeds 160°C to prevent damage.
Short-Circuit Protection:
- The regulator has a short-circuit current limit of 350 mA to protect against output shorts.
Capacitor Requirements:
- A 0.33 μF capacitor should be placed close to the input pin to stabilize the regulator.
- A 0.1 μF capacitor should be placed close to the output pin to ensure stability and reduce output ripple.
PCB Layout:
- Ensure proper heat dissipation by using a large copper area around the regulator if high output currents are expected.
- Keep the input and output capacitors as close as possible to the regulator pins to minimize parasitic inductance and improve performance.
