Instructions for Use:

  1. Input Connection:

    • Connect the input voltage (VIN) to the positive terminal of the power supply.
    • Ensure the input voltage is within the specified range (4.5V to 20V).
  2. Output Connection:

    • Connect the output voltage (VOUT) to the load.
    • The fixed output voltage is 5V.
  3. Ground Connection:

    • Ensure a common ground connection between the input and output circuits.
  4. Heat Dissipation:

    • For high current applications (IOUT > 1A), use a heatsink to manage heat dissipation.
    • Monitor the temperature to avoid exceeding the thermal shutdown threshold (160°C).
  5. Capacitors:

    • Use a 10μF ceramic capacitor on the input side and a 10μF ceramic capacitor on the output side for stability.
    • Place these capacitors as close as possible to the device to minimize parasitic inductance.
  6. Efficiency Considerations:

    • The device operates most efficiently when the input voltage is close to the output voltage.
    • Efficiency is typically around 90% at VIN = 12V and IOUT = 1A.
  7. Power Supply Rejection Ratio (PSRR):

    • The device has a high PSRR at low frequencies (70dB at 10 Hz) and moderate PSRR at higher frequencies (40dB at 100 kHz).
    • Use additional filtering if noise on the input line is a concern.
  8. Thermal Management:

    • Regularly check the temperature of the device during operation.
    • If the device exceeds 160°C, it will enter thermal shutdown to protect itself.
  9. Storage:

    • Store the device in a dry environment with temperatures between -40°C and 125°C.
  10. Handling:

    • Handle the device with care to avoid damage to the pins and internal components.
    • Follow standard ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) precautions when handling the device.
